The problem you encountered is the keycap is not designed to be removed without breaking. You need a virgin part to replace the enter key.
On my new MacBook Pro 2016 15", all keys (butterfly) works perfectly - except the enter key. Even though it does work, It doesn't "click" and you can't feel your are pressing it down - it feels like pressing the metal next to it.
